Meet the Artists: GooseTronics

Our journey through the minds behind Disciples of Distortion Vol. 3 continues with GooseTronics, a producer whose eclectic influences and strong connection to the Stonx crew shine through in his track “Corporation.” Hailing from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada, GooseTronics has made a name for himself by blending elements of DnB and Dubstep with his unique sound.

Meet GooseTronics

Can you share a brief background about yourself as an artist? How did you get started in music, and what are some of your influences?

My name is Angus, and I’m from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. I started DJing in the early 2000s after attending the Evolve Festival, which was my first experience with electronic music. My interest in music production really took off around 2012 when I met my first mentor, Bkode, who showed me the ropes of production. Shortly after, I moved to Berlin, switched to Ableton, and spent some time experimenting with different genres. Once I returned to Canada, I decided to focus on making DnB and Dubstep while upgrading my skills as a producer. That’s when I met the Stonx crew and joined the Producer Dojo. A few years later, I’ve managed to get a few tracks signed and I’m regularly playing gigs now. My influences include iLL Gates, Mr. Bill, Ahee, Camo & Krooked, Knife Party, Noisia, Skrillex, Phibes, Cryptochronica, and many more.

What was the inspiration behind your track on this compilation? Can you walk us through your creative process for “Corporation”?

MYGR started the tune, and it already had a dope vibe to it. I wanted to add a bit of my signature GooseTronics sound to the compilation, so I slowed some things down for the second drop to give it a unique twist.

Are there any specific production techniques or tools you used in this track that you’d like to highlight?

I usually start at the B section and craft some half-time drums, then fool around with the sounds I have until something clicks. From there, I expand, adding and removing elements until that section feels complete.

Did you face any challenges while creating this track? How did you overcome them?

Not at all—we had great flow working together on this track. I’m really excited to do another collab with MYGR in the future!

Is there a personal story or meaning behind this track that you’d like to share?

For me, this song is about anti-corporation. I think we’re all a little sick of the way these massive for-profit corporations treat the world in general.

The Track

MYGR, GooseTronics – Corporation
“Corporation” by MYGR and GooseTronics is a dark, whompy groover that takes the listener on a journey deep into the low-end spectrum. The track starts with a driving drum and bass rhythm, setting the stage for an intense experience, before shifting into a halftime groove in the second half, where GooseTronics’ signature robotic sound takes over. This collaboration perfectly blends both producers’ skills, resulting in an epic, dirty track that’s tailor-made for the “Disciples of Distortion Volume 3.” This is the track you drop when the air conditioning is failing, the crowd’s pupils are dilated, and the speakers are begging for something filthy.

How do you view the community of artists involved in Disciples of Distortion Vol. 3? Have you collaborated with any of the other artists on the compilation before?

The Stonx crew is family to me. We’ve gone through a lot together over the past few years, despite being thousands of kilometers apart and many of us never meeting in person.

What can your fans expect from you in the near future? Are there any upcoming projects or releases you’d like to mention?

I have a track with The Dopeness coming out on ATF Records.

What advice would you give to up-and-coming artists who are trying to make a name for themselves in the electronic music scene?

Don’t be difficult! Be consistent! It’s going to be tough at times, but don’t give up!

Are there any other projects, labels, or events you’d like to promote? Feel free to give a shoutout!

Big shoutouts to Relics, Vitality, Wavelength, Raven Forest, Electric Pines, Future Forest, Not So Thatch, The Producer Dojo, Bad Music Records, ATF Records, and Camper Tunes!

What do you hope listeners take away from your music and this release?

A little foot tapping, maybe a butt wiggle or two.
