STONX MUSIC Blog post 008: Lese.io Sweep Infinity Filter Weekly Production Live Stream

Sweep is an effect that filters.

Utilizing the same mathematics that sound designers use to create shepherd tones / risset filters, Sweep uses a bunch of filters to make your sound feel like it’s rising (or falling) endlessly.

In Sweep’s case, the left and right channels can be split and controlled separately for a more complex, stereo aware sweeping effect.

Sweep is available as a free to download VST / AU plugin for both Windows and Mac platforms.

Hey Everyone!

This week Ollie looked at SWEEP, a self proclaimed “Infinity Filter” from Lese.io, a free offering from this new plugin company

WOW! Lets just start with a big WOW!!

Sweep is a super easy to use, clean, low CPU usage filter with a GUI reminiscent of the Kilohearts products.
I started off with a clean sine tone out of Abletons Operator Synth and Sweep did little more than a slight volume swell at my fundamental frequency, at this point i knew i needed some more harmonic content to put this plugin to the test….

Next step… MSAT.( I bloody love this saturation) I grabbed Serum and began my usual MAXIMAL distortion of a nice phat sine wave, then began to add Sweep filters between my distortions. HOLY F**K! These basses started to scream squelch , wobble and WHOMP!

From that moment, this plugin solidified itself in my Swiss army knife of plugins and we have only just started experimenting!

Next up we tried some rising pads, I grabbed a big chord sample and stretched it with Ableton warp mode until it became a big grainy mess, sweep softened the edges and gave some amazing movement to the sound, I will definitely be using it to make some STONX intros in the future!
By manipulating the phase you can offset the left and right filter sweeps and even have them modulate in different directions, Lots of fun to be had here for sure!

Conclusion

Sweep is a fun, simple plugin that packs a load of potential and its gonna find its way into a lot of my projects from now on!
I’m also looking forward to see what comes next from this new plugin company… the front page of lese.io does mention “Transfer” a ” Doppler Spatializer” coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled for a review of that in the near future!
