STONX MUSIC Blogpost 005: Hypnus Records Slink Devices(M4L) Weekly Production Live Stream

Hypnus Records Max 4 Live Slink Devices

Yesterday in our live stream ( over on our Twitch!) Ollie looked at the new Hypnus Records Slink Devices!

This pack comes with 3 awesome devices, the Filter, LFO & MIDI. With tonnes of possibility individually and even more with them all combined.

Filter

Check this Trippy dude!

This thing is kinda mad! With controls such as ” Ripple / Gravity ” & ” Agility” you know you gonna be in for a good time!
The Slink filter sweeps through all the bands in an “LFO” “wavey” shape that can be controlled with the “Ripple/ Invert/ Gravity/etc” controls. This allows for some crazy fast and intricate filter movement that would otherwise be impossible manually, and i mean that, this thing isn’t just for saving time it really is for some crazy creative sound design!

I used it in conjunction with a few of my favorite distortions to create some gnarly Neuro bass movement and i’ll definitely be using it as a creative idea tool in the future!

Lfo

Slink LFo
Yeah they all dance like this!

Much like the Filter this LFO sweeps around like mad with the aforementioned controls, but this time each point being swept around is another macro for you to map to ANYTHING you like!

Mapping the controls of the filter with the LFO got us deep into some crazy sound design territory!

Midi

Lastly the midi, now admittedly I didn’t really get my head around this one as most of my time was spent playing with filters and distortion. But again much of the same crazy sweeping modulations, this time controlling your midi – pre VST.

with its inbuilt scale and clock functions you can create all kinds of awesome melodies /arpeggios and even crazy swing drums

Conclusion

Definitely check out the Slink devices if you got a spare coupla bob, they are a great creative addition to the arsenal of Max 4 Live available in Ableton Live 11 and i’m sure they are going to crop up in a future STONX release!

You can get the Hynpus Records Slink Devices here from the official Ableton website
