Meet Korax

Can you share a brief background about yourself as an artist? How did you get started in music, and what are some of your influences?

I’m a Drum & Bass producer and DJ from Austin, Texas. My love for music started early on, but I really got hooked on drum and bass because of the energy and intricate production behind the genre. It’s been an exciting journey as I’ve worked to develop my sound and style over the years.

What was the inspiration behind your track on this compilation? Can you walk us through your creative process for “Phaeton”?

The inspiration for Phaeton came from a YouTube video I watched about a planet that should exist but doesn’t—or perhaps it did at one time. That sounded like a cool theme to build a track around, so I used that concept as the foundation for the music.

Is there a personal story or meaning behind this track that you’d like to share?

For me, Phaeton is all about creating that sense of wonder around science fiction, imagining the possibilities of planets and worlds that may or may not exist. I wanted to transport listeners to that kind of action-packed, futuristic scene.

The Track

Korax – Phaeton
Korax takes listeners on a cosmic journey with “Phaeton,” an epic track steeped in sci-fi atmospherics. The track begins with a mysterious intro, evoking the tale of a celestial body and a destroyed planet named “Phaeton,” setting the stage for the deep, long, and spacey reese basslines that follow. “Phaeton” offers a moment of respite on the dancefloor, where the dark, heavy vibes give way to lush, atmospheric chords that invite listeners to sway and lose themselves in the sound. It’s almost a “lighters in the air” moment, providing a perfect breather while keeping the energy and intensity intact.

How do you view the community of artists involved in Disciples of Distortion Vol. 3? Have you collaborated with any of the other artists on the compilation before?

I’m very proud to be part of this compilation alongside so much talent. I haven’t collaborated with any of the other artists just yet, but I’m excited to be among such a strong community of producers.

“Hopefully, I can transport listeners to some sort of science fiction scene full of action and energy.”

What can your fans expect from you in the near future? Are there any upcoming projects or releases you’d like to mention?

I’m planning to ramp up my production and release a lot more tunes in 2025! Fans can definitely expect more music from me soon.

What advice would you give to up-and-coming artists who are trying to make a name for themselves in the electronic music scene?

It takes time. You need to keep pushing yourself, evolving your sound, and working on creating a great brand. Consistency and growth are key.

What do you hope listeners take away from your music and this release?

Hopefully, I can transport them to some sort of science fiction scene full of action and energy. That’s what I aim for in my music—creating an experience that takes you somewhere else.
