Where to find GooseTronics

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in the world of music production?

My name is Angus MacLean, from, Nova Scotia, Canada. I started my path into music production back in 2012, I had been a DJ and really wanted to learn production. My homie Bkode is a producer, so I asked him to teach me the way and he was more than willing to set me on the correct path.

Taking a closer look at your contribution to Disciples of Distortion Volume 2, can you walk us through the creative journey that led to your track?

I wanted something that would hit hard on the drop, generate some bassface. I start with the drop… Bass first, then drums, then sprinkle in everything else as needed.

I have learned to retain focus on the important elements. My older tunes were guilty of blasting you with ear confetti.

GOOSETRONICS

What inspired you while working on this specific piece of music?

I smoked a lot of weed

Are there any unique elements or techniques you used in your track that you’d like to share with your listeners?

The vocal sample is my homie R.I.T.C.H.I.E. I felt the predrop should feel like throwback to the jerky boys days

Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your sound?

iLL Gates, Mr. Bill, Ahee would prob be the 3 biggest… I have been following n doing their tutorials for a while now. iLL Gates being the biggest, with the help of him and his producer dojo I have been able to take my sound from the bedroom onto stages.

Beyond the obvious genres, are there any unconventional sources of inspiration that have left their mark on your musical style?

Pink Floyd, they are my favorite band of all time… I do have mashups that i drop in my sets but def not a band you’d normally associate with DnB

Can you share a particularly challenging moment you’ve encountered in your music production journey and how you overcame it?

I think the hardest things are the unexpected things that are not production related but need to be done… the branding, marketing, ect. having peers and mentors like the stonx community was one of the biggest helps with these things. having a group of people working together is a very powerful tool

How do you perceive the evolution of your artistry from your early creations to your present-day work, and what significant lessons have you learned along the way?

I have learned to retain focus on the important elements. My older tunes were guilty of blasting you with ear confetti.

The music community is often a source of inspiration and support. How has being a part of the Stonx Music community and collaborating with other artists influenced your work?

The stonx music community has been such an important role in my success. Having a like-minded group of people working together, being able to bounce ideas off of, greatly increases the flow of my productivity.

Are there any fellow artists you’d like to give a shoutout to for their contributions or influence on your music?

Ill Gates, Cryptochronica, the human music podcast crew, Bkode, freelance 2020, StayGold, Shatter Beatz, R.J. Thyme, Foobz, Rekkid, lilt gravity, Urban Francis, Second Snake, Jeef, Jim Good, Rufus, pierrerogii, Martin Hamudis, Moves Johnson, Chris Smith, Delicious mike, Wiggy… im sure the list goes on, so sorry to whomever I missed.

Neurofunk boasts a distinctive sound. Could you share your approach to pushing the boundaries and experimenting within this genre in your music?

I am quite outside the box with my approach… I came from a dubstep background and push that style into my sound while trying to retain a neuro taste to my music (especially in the bass)

Are there any other musical genres or styles you’re interested in exploring in the future?

Hiphop, Jazz, Classical are all styles I like to dabble in. I’d also love to write some Metal bangers sometimes in the near future

Reflecting on your journey, what would you consider to be a standout moment or milestone that has defined your career thus far?

Getting an official remix on the smoke album with the likes of ill.Gate, Def3, KJ Sawka, Chris Karns and Nintendeaux back in February was a big one.

Looking ahead, what are your goals and aspirations as an artist? Are there any dream collaborations or projects you’re working on?

I want to play Shambala in BC, Canada… this is my current life goal

In hindsight, are there any production insights or invaluable resources you wish you had encountered when embarking on your music production journey?

Always be open to learning and dedicate yourself to your music. You can easily waste your time doing the wrong things over n over… so be open.

Are there any production tips or resources you wish you had known about when you were starting out?

The Stonx community and producer dojo were the two biggest things to help push me.

Beyond your music craft, how do you unwind and spend your leisure hours when not immersed in creative pursuits?

I play a lot of magic the gathering

Can you share a fun or quirky fact about yourself that your fans might not know?

I lived in a camper for 2 years

As we conclude our conversation, is there a closing message or exclusive glimpse into your world, upcoming projects, or your ongoing artistic journey that you’d like to share with your dedicated fans and eager listeners?
